La laine sur le dos

On Bolivian altiplano resources are scarce. The wild herds of vicunas and guanaco struggle to access the pastures, competing with the domestic alpacas and llamas. The vicuna was the prey of poachers and peasants not long ago. Some people killed it to defend their pastures, while others hunted the animal for its wool, a wool made of a fibre so thin that it ressembles silk. Thanks to the work of Canadian volunteers, vicunas became in a short time the most beloved animal of the whole region...
